Cubism
Cubism was developed between 1907 and 1914 and it was very different and ahead of its time. Artiste were forced to be more creative and more imaginative because of the recent arrive of the Kodak Camera called the ‘The Brownie Camera’ It was so simple even young children could use it. Because it was such a low price and affordable, there wasn’t any need for people to pay to get there picture painted anymore. So this put artist that had to provide for their families in a predicament, where they had to get a new job or move with the times and think of something new.
Which is exactly what Braque did alongside of Picasso, it is known that they got inspiration from Paul Cenzanne. There work was different from anything anyone had ever seen before all the new things coming into the world in the early 20th century changed and helped their minds open a little more.
There work was to get an object and show/ represent this object from every side and form, ever perspective but they wanted this to open up your mind like it did theirs and make things that are 3D look 3D on a 2D canvas so they drew and redrew the image/ object so you could see it in every possible way and very abstract. So this means that they could be even more creative with their work, by using bold colours, sharp lines and making it look completely unrealistic unlike their work before when they wear doing portraits of people and families.
Then they developed it even more to synthetic to which more like a collage where you can combine different images together and be more creative with what goes into your art work, So instead of just having a chair for example from ever perspective and angle you could have a dog or even a car toy next to the chair, this would not just be a simple car is would be abstract so it would more than likely changed dramatically.
This is an Analytical Cubism. Name and Artist: Picasso's "Girl with a Mandolin"
In this piece of artwork there is a young women who is a playing an interments. I like this because it is still a portrait almost I like that this image doesn’t have a lot of bright colours or Sharpe lines. So your eyes so get distract you can really think about what is going on in the photo. I also think that this image is really peaceful and calm because there isn’t any harsh lines or colours everything is really shaded and elegant.
I decide to use the same artist for both images because I really like their work and I think it would be wrong to analyse two pieces of work on the same thing if they were from different people.
I love how abstract this image is, it’s completely mental different and so outgoing. I think that this is such a playful piece of work and I love how you have small bits with colour in and that it’s not all bright and in your face.
