Location Photographer- Simon Williams

Location Photography Research, Jonathan Andrew

Final Evaluation

Our overall project was biased on location photography, we looked at different techniques and angles that we can shoot to different effects because an angle can change the whole photograph and give it a whole new different feeling and can effect your final outcome.

We went out and did practicals and shoots to help practise and support our ideas so that when we come to doing our final shoots we had ideas and different techniques to practise with, i think that all this preparation and practise definitely helped my finals photos and my final piece of work to make it a lot better then it would have been if i did it before these practicals.

I found it difficulties to do my final movie because i am not very good at photoshop it totally confuses me so i think that if i was better at photoshop and had more time to excitement that my final movie would have been a lot more better and interesting to look at because at the moment it is pretty simple and plane but i think that my photos make up for the lack of creativity in my movie because i have used many techniques and angles.

My photos wear taken inside and out so i had natural and artifial light but in both lights it was dificult to photograph because of the white it was so bright and overpowering so i had to change the apture and exsperiment abit to get this right.

I found it really difficult to do this shoot because pretty much most of my photograph wear mainly bright white because of the snow and my shoes. I was finding it hard to capture the detail properly because all the white was so overpowering and it was also a a bright clear day as well so i had a lot of natural light, i maneged to help it by changing the aperture and seeing what worked better or worse. I was also shooting myself wearing the shoes, so i had to put my camera on a timer or have it resting on something so that i could get the photo right, this was extremely difficult because i had to keep coming back and forth trying to get the photo right.

I also did my best with experimenting with different angles, such as worms eye, bird eye, straight on and many more, this helped my photo to be more interesting to look at and not all boring and the same and helped give the viewer different view points ti different angles of the locations i was shooting as well.

i enjoyed going to different locations and experimenting with different shoots and angles and different ways to represent and show my object and location. I started off at my home and my front garden, but i didn't think this was enough and remembering that i had to focusing on location as well i ventured out in the know to see what photos i could get. I have taken many photos in different locations and taking part in different activities, such as going to the park and messing around of the swings and claiming stuff, to getting on buses and walking though the park and town. I think that taking part in fun and sorta sporty activity also helps to relate my locations to my object as these are a sporty and fun trainer that isn't just for fashion purposes but for health and fitness and well.

This was my first time doing a propper shoot in the snow and it was difficult it was freezing and slippy and as well ad trying to look nice for the shoots i was trying to be warm as well because it wouldnt look very good if i was wearing, several pears on jeans and loads of jumpers because i hate the cold, so i had to deal with the freezingness so that i could get my final photos just right and this meant also jumping in my garden like a mad person in a t-shirt, but it was warth it for the final outcome.

If i was to re-shoot i would probably re-think my location and do it over a longer amount of time so that i could get more photos and exspearmnt with different locations. I would more the lickly travle out a bit further so that i could gt a wider rand of locations and enviremnts.

I did enjoy doing this shoot overall because even know it was freezing and i hate the snow it was beautiful and i had lost of fun messing around and with the help of my boyfriend it made evything a lot easier and i mad a snow lady for the first time ever.

Final Shoot Contact Print

These are my photos from my Final shoot, which wear aimed around my new shoes as the object and i was also focusing on my location as well. I story was the day in the life of my new shoes and their first day out. So i had to start from my house of me picking them up and putting them on and then Finlay going outside even know its was freezing cold.

Idea Number 2

Shoot from Idea 1 Mug Cake

This is the shoot from my mug cakes which was my original idea but then i realised that i have to have my chosen object the mug in all my photos which i did not do, i got more excited about making the mug cakes and forgot to involve my object, so i decide to use this as an practice of one of my ideas and thought of a new idea, i have got some photos that are not supposed to be in here which was my brother messing about with the camera.
Overall i do think that is would have been a good shoot if i had remembered to bring my object into all the photos, because i have loads of photos more then needed they are all clear and well focused and the lighting is very good in them all. But i think is could be improved by experimenting with different angles and techniques, for example worms eye view and from different side of the object just to make things more interesting.

Task 3 Mug Cake Idea 1

I have decided to use a Mug/Cup as my chosen object, but i decided to do to something different, i am going to make a Mug Cake, this will be fun, different and really interesting to do, photograph and eat.

My location will be mainly in the kitchen, so i will more then likely be using artificial light unless i can use the light that is coming though the window.

I will try and experiment with different angles and how i can take my photograph to give it different effects and make my photographs be different.

I think that my final photos are going to be really interesting to look at because the should be vibrant and colourful and i think that is project is really open and gives you opportunities to think of your own ideas and have fun with it.

Perspective

These are my photos that i have taken to reprsent persective. Such as, liner perspective, Aerial and using the rule of 3, i tried to use the rule of 3 in all my photographs without the achual grid, so that i can get used to it and see how it improves my over images.

I found this really hard to photograph because i am still new to all these and wasnt very sure what i was supposed to be trying to campute, i found it really dificult to do the Aerial Persective, because it was a really bright and clear day and i couldnt get high enough to see far away to get that kind of effect.

Compasition

I found photographing compasistion a lot more harder and challenging. I shot horizontal, vertical and square.

I think this was again because i didnt really have things i wanted or too photograph i had to go out and find things which isnt as inspiring somtimes definitly when you only have an hour or so.

Angles

 These are my photos that i have taken to represent angle's. Such as;
Eyes level, low, high angle, worm's eye and birds eye.

I enjoyed doing this task but i think i would have enjoyed it more if i was doing it in my own time and had more time to work with, so i didn't have to rush all of my photographs.

I also did an panorma Image of the new biulding as exstra because i thought it would be intresting to try as i have never done it before.

I enjoy doing the worms eye because i think that the photographs are always really intresting no matter what you photograph.

If i was to do this again i would probably go out and go to more places to i had a vider range of things to photograph and so that all my images where compleatly different.

Re-Shoot of Task 1 Photos

This is one of the photos that i decided to re-shoot Because it wasnt in focus and i thought i could re-shoot it and imorove it a lot. I tried to take the photo from lower down and stright on so that the angle was the same and i tried not to get my reflection  as much in the glass which i found dificult as people kelpt walking past the hallway and i had to stand infront of it to keep the images the same.I think that the white line at the bottom of the photograph is a bit distracting and that it would look a lot better if i cropped it out.

This photo was to represent movment or travel, i imrpoved this by taking the photograph from thuther up so it was almost an birds eye view and then i included my object by dropping it on the floor. i like how the photos are really similar you can only tell the diffrents by the pen. I think to improve this more i could put my feet on diffrent steps to make it appear like i am walking.

This is another travel one, my last one was not at a very good angle and it all looked like i was trying to squish everything into one page. You can see my fingers in holding the pen a bit but apart from that i think that is photo is improved a lot, its all center.

Holiday Break Photos Evaulation

Overall Evaluation Of My Holiday Photographs
Most of my photograph were taken on my phone because i was taking them on the go, when i was out with friends, and i didn't really plan my photos so i didn't bring my camera, i do have a thew that were taken on a camera, my last post of my friends and myself, were taken on a camera at new years eve.
Also 9 out of 10 of my photos were edited on my phone or laptop using an app, to make them look a bit better and more interesting. I think that editing photos and ruin them just as much as improve them because it can change the light and make it unnatural and very unprofessional, but i didn't mind so much with these photos because it was an holiday project and i think it would make it more fun to edit them.
With my inertia photos, i think that editing them has changed the light and make it appear orange which i think makes the photos feel a lot warmer which i think relates well with the christmas homie holiday feeling.
i found it hard to take a different photo everyday, because some days i just sat in my house all day doing nothing and i wanted my photos to be different everyday and interesting so that people don't get bored.
I did take some photos outside when i went to the hospital or went out most of them was of my boyfriend, i did one of him at the bus stop which i didn't edit much so still looks really natural but i also did of him in leeds stood next to a lion, which i made black and white, to make it jump out more and give it more contrast.
I did a few different locations, indoor and outdoor, i did some in the hospital while we was waiting to be seen and one of the doctor talking about an x-ray which i thought was really interesting to look at. I did some at home in my room, while i was getting ready, and some in my living room on christmas day, i think i have a wide range of locations but i do think that some could be more clear and show the location more.
Overall i thought that this overall task was very fun and interesting to do, it was really open to interpretation so you could do pretty much whatever you wanted which made it a lot more fun and less stressful.

New Year's Eve!

This was Arlettas New Year's Eve party, and it really was an eventful night, I don't think you have to say anything about these photos they speak for there selfs.
