Evaluation of Duotoned Images

Evaluation Of Duotoned Images
My cyan photo of a skyline in Spain was already really blue so it didn’t really need editing. When I changed my photo to black and white and changed the levels this made my photo a lot sharper and brighter but when I did the overall blue colour on my photo. I think this ruined my photo and made it a lot more dull and it didn’t stand out as much anymore, I don’t think the colour was sharp enough so for this photo I don’t personally think that this is a good technique for this photograph.
For my magenta photos I used some flowers that I had in my living room. In the original photo the colour was subtle and pretty but still really vibrant. I don’t think that this photo looked very good in black and white I think it lost its eye catching qualities but when I added the magenta overlay I think this brightened my photo up again and improved it in some ways.  I like how now you can see the light hitting the petals I think it helps to make the photo jump out more.  I think that this technique has worked pretty well with this photo and improved it in some ways but I think my original is better and more interesting to look at.
I also took a photo of my lucky bamboo that I keep in my room. This is really pretty. When I made this photo black and white, I think it lost of all its effectiveness I think personally it is very hard to find a black and white photo that looks good but when I sharpened it up and aged the green overlay it looked so much better. It was vibrant, elegant and I like how the background looks blurred so that you can really focus on the main point of the photo. I think that this technique has worked really well with this photo because I like the green over lay and think it’s a lot brighter than other colours.
I have decided to do two photos that was yellow, I did a duck and a cream egg cup because when I did the first one I didn’t personally think it looked very effective because  the yellow wasn’t bright or intense enough for my images. It looked more like an orangey red then a yellow to me. I don’t like this colour and I wouldn’t use this technique if I was going to use yellow on my image. I do think that this technique worked better on my second images as it had less or a neutral background and make the colour easier to stand out on the mug.
The photo of the red door was one of my favourite image because I liked how It was taken and it looked really good before I edited it. I did like this photo when I had made it black and white I think it had a lot more mystery to it and make the little detail jump out more. I also liked when I added the red I just dislike how faded most of the colours are when you put them into your photos I think that this ruins a lot of your images.
Overall I think that this technique isn’t very good because the colours are faded and it takes a lot away from the images. Its takes away detail and it makes it not as eye catching as it ones were. I think that if the over lay of the colors was brighter and more bold it would improve the images a lot more
